Position: National Manager of Financial Institutions Where are you from? Geelong What are your interests and hobbies? Cycling, travelling & family, food, Sport, AFL Footy. What is your background in the insurance industry? I stated my insurance career at Chubb in Financial Institutions (Sydney) after transitioning my career from banking. After 5 years learning my underwriting craft which included navigating the Global Financial Crisis, I was ready to help launch AXIS Financial Lines F.I. business. Time with AXIS included building the business by working across three offices in Syd./Bris. & Melb. During this time I also broadened my experience with commercial P.I. & state manager duties. More recently, I launched the Talbot Validus Group’s Financial Institutions business in Australia out of Melbourne, switching from a corporate insurance background to a Lloyd’s syndicate. I consider myself an F.I. and business start-up specialist ready to work in a start-up business. What attracted you to Quantum? Meeting Neil Sheppard was undoubtedly what initially attracted me to Quantum. Neil also enlightened me as to other qualities of Quantum such as the independence, a family culture, high quality systems & operations. Good people is what a successful business is all about, so that was crucial for me. Whilst I have my own F.I. focus I appreciate that diversity is what will be a strength as the business grows. The suite of unique Specie products in the market is exciting. This product spread will be mutually beneficial to what we can bring. It’s also attractive to know that you can contribute to a business and make a difference. There are plenty of other insurers and underwriting agencies - why should a broker use Quantum? Having helped build insurance brands before, Quantum has good story to tell. It’s proven in the Specie market over a solid period of time with a large range of products on offer. This translates well for brokers to have new products available. Our business is about people and relationships, so building from a position of strength will help. Service is paramount in our business, and Quantum has the systems and people to be able to provide this. What does the future hold for yourself and/or Quantum? I look forward to building a strong and long lasting business by drawing on everything I have learned in my career. It’s the perfect time in the market for a local, independent & trusted agency business to grow as the global insurers reduce their exposures. I want to be part of and contribute to this growth.
