Where are you from? 
Farnham Surrey UK

What are your interests and hobbies? 
My interests mainly involve sports and outdoorsy stuff – I played rugby for school and university, now I mainly play tennis and go for runs (when I’m not being lazy, watching Netflix and eating cheese pizza). I would like to take advantage of the sporting opportunities in WA by getting into kayaking and hiking. My other interests mainly revolve around food – whether eating out with my partner or cooking at home, also with my partner 

What is your background in the insurance industry? 
I am fairly new to insurance however I have long held aspirations of joining the industry – my dad (Alex Thornton) founded Quantum and before that he used to work at Lloyd’s London. So I’ve wanted to join for a long time and recently took the opportunity to come out to Australia and get stuck in

What attracted you to Quantum? Obviously the family connection with my Dad working here makes Quantum attractive but it’s a big moment in life making the decision to leave your job and friends and move halfway across the world. It’s been challenging at times but since starting work everyone at Quantum has been so friendly and welcoming and offered help whenever I’ve needed it. Quantum has a real family business feel - it’s a really nice atmosphere and so I enjoy going to work everyday 

There are plenty of other insurers and underwriting agencies - why should a broker use Quantum? 
We offer fantastic cover for our clients, our prices are really competitive and we have years and years worth of industry expertise within the company but really it ties into my answer to the previous question – everyone is super friendly and everyone goes above and beyond to help. We have amazing relationships with our brokers because we offer a great efficient service but most of all it’s a friendly and personable service

What does the future hold for yourself and/or Quantum? 
It’s early days at the minute but I’m really enjoying my work and I’m just hoping that I can continue what I’m doing, keep learning, upskilling and progress. I’m hoping to complete my Tier 1 within the next couple of months and then my next goal is to graduate from Underwriting Assistant to Underwriter and then from then on who knows J
